Chelsea fans will no doubt be excited, after the agent of Brazilian international Hulk hinted at a potential move to the Premier League for his client, The Metro reports.
It’s no secret that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is desperate to strengthen his forward berth in the summer, with his current trio Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba each failing to get near double figures for Premier League goals so far.
Hulk plies his trade in Russia for Zenit St. Petersburg, and is expected to start on the right of a front three for Brazil at this summer’s World Cup.
His agent Shandor Varga told the Izvestia newspaper that his client could be keen on a move abroad, and reckons England is the 27-year-old’s most likely destination.
“Despite the huge transfer fee required to sign Hulk, don’t rule out that he will move to one of the top clubs in Europe this summer,” Varga said.
“English clubs still have the highest chance of signing him.”
The Brazilian is renowned for his unbelievable strength and power, and his thunderous left-foot shot. This term for his club he’s scored 13 and assisted 10 in 24 appearances, but questions will be raised on whether Chelsea really need his services right now.
Hulk is deployed as a right winger rather than the much needed centre-forward. Mourinho already has the excellent hard-working Willian in this position, or German international Andre Schurrle who recently bagged a Premier League hat-trick against Fulham.
It’s more likely that the Blues will try and recruit and out and out centre-forward instead…
Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa and AS Monaco’s Radamel Falcao could be more appropriate targets, although all three of the players mentioned will almost definitely command an enormous transfer fee.
On the pitch, Chelsea face Aston Villa away from home today, knowing they could put pressure on Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for the title, as their two rivals don’t play until tomorrow.
