Jose Mourinho has been left with very few attacking options recently, as star forward Diego Costa has been ruled out for the rest of the month through injury.
And to make matters worse, Costa is joined on the sidelines by Loic Remy, while veteran star Didier Drogba looks likely to move on over the summer.
Icardi has long been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge, and it now seems as though manager Roberto Mancini has resigned himself to letting him leave at the end of the season.
However, according to reports in Italy, Mancini is already looking at possible replacements for the Argentine international, with Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez believed to be at the top of his shopping list.
