Chelsea have been given a last gasp bit of hope in their pursuit of Everton defender John Stones.
The Toffees confirmed early on Tuesday morning that they had completed the signing of Ramiro Funes Mori for a fee of £9.5m.

While it is assumed that the Argentinian has been signed with a view of partnering Stones in the centre of the defence, it will undoubtedly lead to speculation that he could be joining as a replacement.
Stones has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge all summer, with the Premier League champions reportedly making three separate bids for the England international.
However, Everton have rejected all three advances and Roberto Martinez has been resolute in his desire to keep his centre-half at the club and recently praised his commitment and focus.
Whether or not the arrival of Funes Mori changes the situation remains to be seen, but with the deadline fast approaching, it would be a surprise if Jose Mourinho’s men didn’t make one last enquiry about one of their top targets over the last few months.
