The Blues are interested in signing the 22-year-old French international, however, the Premier League champions face stiff competition with Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Manchester City all reportedly keen to sign the midfield ace.
According to Daily Express, Juventus last week knocked back a £56m bid from Barcelona for Pogba, and Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta said the club were not keen to allow the player to leave despite the big money offers.
“We will not sell our best players unless the players themselves ask us to leave,” Marotta told Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by Daily Express.
“In addition, we don’t need cash so we’re not prepared to accept any discount offers on the price of our players.”
According to the report, Manchester City were considering matching Juventus’ £71m valuation of the former Manchester United prodigy but were not prepared to match his £12m-a-year wage demands.
Chelsea are believed to value the Pogba at £35m cash plus a player, but it’s difficult to see Juventus accepting such an offer.
Paris Saint-Germain certainly have the financial clout to match Juventus’ demands, but it is understood Pogba prefers a move to either the Premier League or La Liga.
