According to ESPN, Montreal have acquired the MLS rights to the striker from the Chicago Fire, and are reportedly poised to sign him to a contract.

The 37-year-old is expected to sign an 18-month deal in excess of $3m per year, although he has yet to put pen to paper and continues to assess his options.
Chicago initially obtained the former Ivorian international’s rights by filing for a discovery claim on him and pursued him for a month. However, it appears as though a move to Montreal, a French-speaking city, could well be the move that entices Drogba to sign a contract.
The MLS transfer window closes on August 6, but the league has already seen a strong influx of star European and African players arrive with Andrea Pirlo, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard leading the way.
