With John Terry needing assistance in the backfield, Chelsea have increased their pursuit of Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger.
The transfer war for VfB Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger appears to be nearing its conclusion with the Blues set to seal the deal.
According to the Daily Star, Jose Mourinho is interested in bring Rudiger to Chelsea in lieu of Everton star John Stones. The Special One is believed to be readying a qualifying offer in the area of £20 million to secure Rudiger’s transfer before the weekend.
Arsenal, Man United and Serie A giants Roma have also been linked to a move for the 22-year-old German stud. The Daily Star reported that Roma are believed to have had a previous bid for Rudiger rejected.
Antonio Rudiger is coming off his third season with Stuttgart in Bundesliga, and his first season in which he played 30 games or more. The 22-year-old German defender has 6 caps for the national team and 10 caps with a goal for the Under-21 team.
