Neither Wayne Rooney or Samuel Eto’o will be playing under Jose Mourinho this term…
Samuel Eto’o will reject the chance to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, and instead will re-sign for the club where the Portuguese managed him – Inter Milan, reports the Times.
Chelsea had made the 32-year-old Cameroonian Anzhi Makhachkala striker their primary backup option should a deal for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney prove unobtainable.
After it emerged that 27-year-old Rooney would not be handing in a transfer request, following Mourinho’s ultimatum – it looks as though the English striker will remain at Old Trafford.
Chelsea have always accepted this possibility, but were not expecting their second choice Eto’o to turn them down also.
Because the Stamford Bridge have only offered him a one-year-deal, the legendary forward will sign a two-year-deal at the San Siro on huge terms. Eto’o still believes he has at least three years left at the very top, and expects more game time and a more pivotal role at the Italian club than at Chelsea.
What’s more, Eto’o has already enjoyed a fantastic spell at Inter between 2009 and 2011, scoring 53 times in two seasons, and winning a Champions League with his second club.
The four time African Player of the Year came third in the 2005 Ballon D’or, and has scored 288 career club goals.
