The Ghana international is being tipped to go straight into Jose Mourinho’s starting XI after unconvincing defensive displays in pre-season, and at the start of Chelsea’s Premier League defence.
The Blues drew 2-2 at home to Swansea City on the opening weekend and then conceded three more in a comprehensive defeat to new title favourites Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Adored captain John Terry was hooked at half time against the Citizens, but is expected to start the trip to West Bromwich Albion, and instead it could be Branislav Ivanovic who is dropped.
According to French publication Le 10 Sport, Mourinho wants Cesar Azpilicueta to switch flanks and replace the Serbian at right-back, and have Rahman and Kurzawa fight it out at left-back.
The 22-year-old, who has two international caps for France, has been linked with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain after impressing as an attacking full-back in recent seasons with Monaco.
