Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is reported to be unhappy with playing in Italy, and Chelsea have been alerted to the player’s possible availability.
Chelsea will have to dig deep into its coffers however, as The Metro reports that Napoli are unwilling to sell their superstar unless Higuain’s £66m release clause is matched.
Chelsea have recently been more focused on strengthening its defence, but it will at least be tempting for Blues manager Jose Mourinho to consider luring Higuain to Stamford Bridge.
With Diego Costa struggling with hamstring issues, Higuain could become an enticing prospect for Mourinho.
Chelsea have also received inquiries about Loic Remy, who is a key scorer for the Blues.
The addition of Higuain would provide the defending Premier League champions with a major boost, especially if Costa can remain fit.
The 27-year-old striker scored 29 goals in 56 appearances last season for Napoli. The former Real Madrid man has scored a total of 192 goals throughout his 11-year career.
