Chelsea 2015/16 fixture list
The 21-year-old already has over 100 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon, so no wonder he is being fought for.
Right now, Umtiti’s most likely destination appears to be Chelsea.
He can play either at left-back or in the centre of the defence. He would be a good addition to Jose Mourinho’s side, especially if Filipe Luis leaves.
According to a One World Sports article written by respected freelance journalist Duncan Castles, Mourinho wants “to bring players who can be good solutions for us to make us more consistent.” This involves bringing a more defensive mindset to the team as well as more football intelligence.
Umtiti would be replacing Luis if the club will allow him to leave for one of the several teams that have pursued him – thus making Umtiti a perfect addition, filling in the gaps for Chelsea.
Umtiti is worth £11m. He has two years left on his Lyon contract.
The Blues want to make all of their transfers as early in the summer transfer window as possible, so look for them making moves to acquire the Cameroon star soon.
