Blues leading the pack in pursuit of Ross Barkley.
Chelsea have moved ahead of Manchester City in the race for the signing of young English attacking midfielder Ross Barkley from Premier League rivals Everton, report the Express, after City balked at the £50 million price tag that the Toffees have placed on his head.

Barkley is currently out injured and is due to miss a significant portion of the 2014/15 campaign, but he was so impressive under Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park last season that clubs are still chasing his signature whilst he lies on the treatment table.
With City seemingly having cooled their interest unless Everton lower their asking price, the door could well be opened for Chelsea, who are also hugely keen on Barkley, who would not only offer them a huge talent but would also help with homegrown player regulations in the Champions League.
