Chelsea’s goalie ace could move on if he is benched in favour of Courtois…
Chelsea’s 32-year old goalkeeping veteran Petr Cech has hinted that he may evaluate his options this summer if he is told to play second fiddle to a 10-years junior goalie in Belgian Thibaut Courtois.
The Daily Mirror reports that he may already be eyeing a switch away from Stamford Bridge despite his boss Jose Mourinho insisting that there is room at the club for both world class stoppers.
Cech has served the Blues as one of the best goalies in the world for the last decade, but the emergence of a young prodigy in Courtois, who scaled peaks with Spanish champions Atletico Madrid on loan, means that the veteran might have to make way.
Mourinho has also hinted that he might start with Courtois as his No.1, and Cech too has declared his plan of action if he is benched in favour of the youngster this season. The Czech star said recently, “I don’t want to be on the bench. This is why I am trying to do everything to be in the team. I don’t want to be on the bench. This is why I am trying to do everything to be in the team. Obviously Jose Mourinho will make his choice and decide how his team is going to look for the first game, second game, third game, whatever game. It is up to us players to show we are ready to play and make him pick us. I am not any different. I am doing everything I can to make him pick me.”
