Ozil has come in for some heavy criticism for his performances recently, but his display against Aston Villa over the weekend in a 3-0 win was a fine example of what the German can do.
Scoring his first goal of the season before setting up Danny Welbeck just a minute and 15 seconds later, Gunners fans will be hoping this is a return to form for the playmaker.
Sanchez was dropped for the game, and although the North Londoners confirmed there was no injury and that the Chilean was merely demoted to the bench, it is suspected that the £35m summer signing was suffering from some form of illness.
Cascarino sees no reason why Sanchez should be dropped however, talking up the former Barcelona man and fellow new signing Danny Welbeck immensely.
“I really like what Welbeck does. He does good jobs in different positions,” Cascarino was quoted by the Sport Review.
“If he gets that fixed position, someone like Ozil can make the final balls which Welbeck could thrive on.
“I can’t see Wenger not putting Sanchez in that team. For me, he is a sensational player. I love what he can do.
“It might case that Sanchez starts before Ozil. Ozil needs to lift his game, that is what you want as manager.”
Quite a claim from the former Chelsea man, but surely Arsene Wenger will find a way to accommodate both players.
