Surely the Reds wouldn’t consider selling Coutinho to a rival…?
Read more Chelsea transfer rumours.
In news that we don’t expect to ever develop into an actual transfer, Chelsea are apparently lining up a large bid for Liverpool’s playmaker Coutinho, reports Football Direct News.
The 21-year-old has shone for Brendan Rodgers’ title challenging side this year, putting in especially memorable performances during home thrashings of both Arsenal and Everton.
As a result, it seems implausible that the Reds would even consider selling Coutinho to their direct rivals, who have the likes of Oscar, Eden Hazard, Willian, Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah already competing for starting attacking midfield positions.
The report claims that PSG are also chasing Coutinho. The French giants have also been linked with Chelsea’s Oscar, so it could be that Jose Mourinho is considering a like-for-like Brazilian replacement after Coutinho’s impressive campaign in England.
However, with Liverpool flatly refusing to sell Luis Suarez to Arsenal this summer, we can’t imagine that they’d even consider doing business with Jose Mourinho’s outfit.
