Ambitious West Ham United are seemingly ready to compete with Chelsea for the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele.
The 27-year-old made only 21 appearances for Spurs in the Premier League last season as Mauricio Pochettino largely preferred a pairing of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason in the centre of the park.
While the talented Belgian has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane, he retains admirers across England, having impressed in his two years at Fulham before joining Tottenham for £15m in 2012.

The Sun reports that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is monitoring Dembele as he prepares to allow John Obi Mikel to leave for the United Arab Emirates, although Alex Song is also believed to be on his radar.
West Ham though would be able to offer Dembele something that he is unlikely to get at either of the other two London clubs – regular football – and would apparently be willing to meet his rumoured £12m valuation.
New manager Slaven Bilic has been tasked with getting the Hammers into Europe ahead of their big move to the Olympic Stadium for the 2016-17 season.
