Chelsea have launched a bid to sign Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, according to reports.
The Blues were initially linked with a move for Bettinelli following Petr Cech’s departure to Premier League rivals Arsenal, however, the London club completed a deal to bring Stoke City gloveman Asmir Begovic to the club.
According to Metro [via The Times], Chelsea are now keen to bring the England Under-21 international to Stamford Bridge and have reportedly made a £2.5m offer for the 23-year-old.
Chelsea are believed to want to wrap up the transfer quickly, but it is unknown whether Bettinelli will remain at the Blues or head out on loan as he would likely be third choice at the Premier League champions.
Bettinelli has made 39 appearances for Fulham since making his debut for the club in 2012.
He would be Chelsea’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Asmir Begovic, Radamel Falcao, Nathan and Danilo Pantic.
