Chelsea have reportedly raised their bid for Jose Callejon to £26m in order to beat Arsenal to the signature of the Napoli winger.
The London rivals, who clash in the Community Shield at Wembley this afternoon, are both thought to be interested in the prolific Spaniard.
The Metro claims that Jose Mourinho is ‘captivated’ by the 28-year-old and has encouraged Chelsea to make an improved offer amid fears that Arsenal could outdo their initial £15.5m approach.
Mourinho is desperate to add another goalscoring option out wide after watching Juan Cuadrado struggle to settle in England following his £26.1m arrival from Fiorentina in January.
Callejon, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, has found the net 29 times in all competitions across his last two seasons with Napoli.
