Emenike hunt could suggest large scale revamp.
While Chelsea are known to be chasing big name strikers Diego Costa and Mario Mandzukic all summer, their boss Jose Mourinho may have sprung a sudden surprise by making a £16 million bid for a relatively lesser known striker in Emmanuel Emenike.
The Daily Express reports that the Blues are keen on landing the 27-year old Nigerian ace, who has also impressed so far at the World Cup finals in Brazil.
Emenike is also said to be keen on a switch to the Premier League.
“I have always dreamed of playing in England. If I get the opportunity to play in England – I wouldn’t turn it down,” the African said.
The Fenerbahce man could be a typical Mourinho signing as he is known to have a very conspicuous physical presence up front.
He has also established himself as possibly Nigeria’s best player in recent times, and has netted nine goals for them in 24 games since making his debut in 2011.
Chelsea’s continued striker hunt may also spell doom for the likes of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, who have not had the desired impact that was expected of them last season.
