Although Chelsea and Manchester City both landed stellar defenders in Baba Rahman and Nicolas Otamendi respectively, they both still have their eyes on Monaco star Layvin Kurzawa.
According to Squawka, Chelsea are still interested in making a move for Kurzawa with Man City deciding to enter the bidding as well.
Squawka noted that although Baba Rahman and Kurzawa play the same position, Chelsea could have the two compete against each other while Cesar Azpilicueta fights struggling Branislav Ivanovic for a starting job.
As for Man City, Nicolas Otamendi could still use some help on the defense with the club’s rivals gaining more offensive firepower this summer.
Layvin Kurzawa has made 73 appearances for the Monaco defense since his senior debut in 2010. He was named to the 2013-14 Ligue 1 UNFP Team of the Year after leading Monaco to a 2nd place finish on the Ligue 1 table in the same year as their promotion from Ligue 2.
