Mourinho had criticised Kevin Friend for not awarding his side a penalty.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has made a rare apology to a referee following his side’s emphatic 3-0 FA Cup third round victory over Watford at Stamford Bridge today, report Goal, with the Portuguese having spoken to referee Kevin Friend following criticism in his initial media briefing.

Mourinho had felt that his side should’ve been awarded a penalty when Craig Cathcart appeared to handle a shot from Diego Costa, despite Loic Remy scoring from the rebound anyway, and Friend would confirm that he had decided to play advantage:
“Today we had a big penalty and i want to apologise for complaining on the television.”
“The referee told me that if Remy doesn’t control well the ball or it’s lost, it would have been a penalty. I was complaining but it’s good refereeing and I want to apologise.”
Mourinho has hit the headlines in recent weeks for his criticism of referees, after feeling that his side were denied clear penalties in the Premier League trips to Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.
