Mourinho wasn’t happy when Graham Poll allowed Henry to take a free kick quickly.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was extremely complimentary when asked about now retired former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s Premier League action – but the Mirror‘s report did show that Mourinho can still force a complaint in when he’s eulogising about someone.

The incident that Mourinho recalled and that he still seems to hold a grudge about occurred when former referee Graham Poll allowed the Frenchman to take a free kick quickly, whipping the ball into the net whilst Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech was still stood at the post organising his wall.
This clearly did not impress Mourinho, who still had some harsh words to say about the incident to this day:
“Only one moment I didn’t enjoy, which was the goal he scored against us when Mr Poll allowed him to take the free-kick when everyone was still preparing.”
However, whilst Mourinho still doesn’t think the goal should’ve been allowed, he did suggest that it was an indication of Henry’s incredible footballing intelligence:
“Even in that moment he showed how intelligent he was playing football.”
