Premier League pair set to miss out on Atletico Madrid star.Chelsea and Manchester United look set to miss out on the signing of Atletico Madrid defender Miranda, according to the Daily Star.
The Brazilian centre-back has seemingly committed his future to the Spanish champions despite plenty of speculation linking him with an exit from the club in this summer’s transfer window.
Having become one of the most impressive defensive players in Europe last season with some rock-solid displays to help guide Atletico to the title in La Liga, as well as the Champions League final, Miranda had attracted plenty of interest up until now.
However, it is claimed that no club have actually met the £24m asking price in his buy-out clause so far this summer, leaving Atletico in a good position to keep the player at the Vicente Calderon next season.
Miranda is now quoted as saying he will not be going anywhere in this transfer window, in what will no doubt be a major boost for manager Diego Simeone, who has already seen Diego Costa and David Villa leave recently, with other key players in his squad also being linked with moves away.
