Turkish giants Besiktas are keen on making a move for Chelsea outcast John Obi Mikel, according to reports.
Besiktas have been keen to sign a holding midfielder this summer and were understood to be close to signing Liverpool ace Lucas Leiva on loan.
However, Lucas’ excellent performance for the Reds against Arsenal on Monday seems to have locked in his foreseeable future with the Merseyside club, and The Daily Mail claims Besiktas Senol Gunes has now turned his attentions to signing Mikel.
According to the report, Chelsea could allow Mikel to exit the club should the Blues snare the signature of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
The 28-year-old made just 18 Premier League appearances last season as Chelsea went on to claim the title with Nemanja Matic preferred by Jose Mourinho in the defensive midfield role.
Besiktas are closing in on the signing of Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, with the 33-year-old reportedly agreeing a two-year deal with the Istanbul club.
