The Netherlands international has long been linked as one of Louis van Gaal’s top targets since his move to Old Trafford this summer, but he may now be headed for Stamford Bridge.
It is claimed that Chelsea have made a £30m bid to sign the 24-year-old this winter, and Strootman is keen on making the move to the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho already has plenty of options in midfield, but could look to bring in Strootman whilst offloading backup players such as Ramires and John Obi Mikel.
