Chelsea are ready to sell their striker Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool, and have already lined up a replacement in Bayer 04 Leverkusen star Andre Schurrle, report the Daily Telegraph.
The 22 year-old is capable of playing across the attacking line, and is typically more suited to a left-sided role, but it is thought that Blues manager Roberto Di Matteo plans to use Schurrle as backup to Fernando Torres in the Chelsea line-up.
With news emerging that Torres could be dropped for tonight’s UEFA Champions League game against Juventus, Schurrle has a clear path into the first team at Chelsea.
Schurrle is a clever dribbler who likes to shoot from distance. He is renowned for his shooting accuracy – whether from range or in the penalty area, and he is a fine finisher.
This season Schurrle has three goals and two assists in twelve starts for Bayer Leverkusen, but most of his play has been cutting inside from the left.
In a central striker role, he could be even more prolific.
