Chelsea appear to be in the clear to sign Baba Rahman after Augsburg secured a replacement for the Ghana international defender.
Reports from Germany this week have claimed that the Blues have agreed a £17.5m deal for the left-back, who impressed in his debut Bundesliga season last year.
Jose Mourinho has identified him as the perfect understudy to Cesar Azpilicueta – a 21-year-old with the potential to improve but with little demand for regular action.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho agrees move for 41-goal striker, despite calling deal a “big mistake”
He created room for Rahman by granting Filipe Luis a quick return to Atletico Madrid last month, only 12 months after signing him from the Spanish side.
And now the transfer seems to be edging ever closer, with Augsburg having brought in left-back Philipp Max from second-tier Karlsruhe to fill the void.
The German, also 21, spent four years at Schalke 04 without breaking into the first team, and was previously on the books at Bayern and 1860 Munich.
