Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and manager Jose Mourinho are set for a collision course if Petr Cech is named as the club’s No.1, according to the Mirror.
The Blues start their 2014/15 season with their Premier League opener with Burnley on Monday night and Mourinho has to choose between his two stoppers for who will start between the sticks.
The 51-year-old has given nothing away over who will be his preferred ‘keeper for the coming campaign and Courtois could potentially fall out with the Portuguese coach if the decision goes against him.
The Belgium international has been brought back to Stamford Bridge this summer following three years of success on-loan with Atletico Madrid.
During that time Courtois won two La Liga Goalkeeper of the Year awards, the Copa del Rey, Europa League and Spanish title.
Despite still being just 22-years-old the Belgian is considered to be among the finest stoppers in world football and will want his first team opportunities to reflect that.
Cech meanwhile has seen his own form drop in recent times and many believe the 32-year-old is past his best to play for a side like the West Londoners.
However, after a decade of loyal service to the side it would be difficult for Mourinho just to discard the Czech Republic international and one of the two stars is going to be left disappointed.
