1) Yaya Toure (Manchester City)
After this season there can be no doubt that Manchester City’s Yaya Toure is the best midfielder in the country at the moment, and quite possibly the best on the planet.
The Ivory Coast international notched up a superb 24 goals and nine assists in all competitions to help City claim the Premier League title and Capital One Cup, and some of his performances along the way were simply breathtaking.
Having never scored more than ten goals in a season prior to this term, Toure found the back of the net from a variety of angles and distances, and would quite often glide past defenders like they weren’t there.
Combining physical strength, pace, silky skills and a thunderous shot, Toure is the complete midfield player and would be almost irreplaceable if he left the Etihad Stadium.
