6) Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
A player revitalised under manager Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool’s long-serving midfield general Steven Gerrard remains one of the best in the Premier League after all this time.
The 34-year-old will captain England at the World Cup this summer on the back of a superb season at club level, as he notched up 13 goals and 13 assists in the league.
Many of his goals came from the penalty spot, but his influence on the team was invaluable as they finished a narrow second to eventual champions Manchester City, and although he now plays in a deeper role, he has shown his all-round ability by adapting superbly.
