Chelsea announced one of the biggest deals of the summer on Thursday after confirming the signing of Barcelona winger Pedro despite Manchester United’s interest in the Spanish international.
The 28-year-old revealed that his friendship with Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas played a major role in his decision to snub United and join the Blues.
“Yes, I spoke to Cesc. We are very good friends. I knew I would feel at home here and that was one of the main reasons why I decided to join,” Pedro told the official Chelsea website.
Pedro had previously spoken to Fabregas’ girlfriend about moving to Chelsea, and he continued to link up with the star midfielder.
The Blues have signed the former Barcelona to a four-year deal.
Pedro dropped down the pecking order at the Camp Nou following the arrival of Luis Suarez, but the winger still managed to score 11 goals from just 15 starts.
Chelsea are expected to spend even more before the transfer window closes and have been linked with moves for Everton defender John Stones and Juventus ace Paul Pogba.
