A new book about the Bayern Munich head coach written by Spanish journalist Marti Perarnau has revealed that the West London club approached Guardiola back in 2012.

Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich wanted the 43-year-old to come to the Bridge having recently left FC Barcelona, but the manager was committed to joining Bayern in 2013.

“It is no surprise that Chelsea were chasing Pep Guardiola in the winter of 2012 after having three managers in eight months,” the book is quoted by the Sun.
