Diego Costa emerges from Euro 2016 qualifiers for Spain unscathed
Mourinho had suggested ahead of the Spaniards’ matches with Slovakia and Luxembourg that Costa should not play due to a hamstring injury.
However, national team boss Vicente del Bosque ignored the advice of the 51-year-old and played the striker in both matches.
Costa marked the occasion by scoring his first goal for the reigning European champions during his seventh cap as they beat Luxembourg 4-0.
