Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has the full backing of Roman Abramovich despite the Blues’ horror start to its Premier League title defence.
The Blues currently sit in 17th position on the Premier League table after suffering their third loss of the season in a 3-1 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
According to The Times, Abramovich has backed Mourinho to oversee a change of fortunes ahead of the club’s Champions League opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wendesday.
The report suggests Mourinho could wield the axe for the match, with Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Branislav Ivanovic the most under threat.
Abramovich will again allow Mourinho to dig deep into the club’s coffers during the January window, with it understood the Portuguese boss is keen to sign another defensive midfielder to put pressure on Fabregas and Nemanja Matic.
Chelsea faces a stern test in the Premier League on Saturday when it faces London rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
