Abramovich is open to a loan switch for the Spaniard in order to get Costa or Falcao.
In order to be able to sign either AS Monaco’s Radamel Falcao or Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid, Chelsea will allow Fernando Torres to join Inter Milan on-loan, according to Tuttosport.
The Spaniard has become something of a bit-part player under the management of Jose Mourinho this season and Samuel Eto’o is the preferred striker in the starting XI.
However, with Eto’o also expected to leave Stamford Bridge when his contract expires in the summer and question marks over the future of Demba Ba at the club, attacking recruitment remains a priority for Mourinho.
This is why Roman Abramovich is prepared to let Torres leave west London on a temporary basis and then give the Blues boss large funds to go and land either Costa or Falcao.
Both are likely to cost huge sums of money, but do have a proven pedigree when it comes to scoring goals – something the current striking trio at the club have struggled with this term.
The problem Inter have with taking on Torres however is the 30-year-old’s annual wages of around £5m and could only afford to sign the Spain international is those were subsidised.
This is where Abramovich comes in and in order to keep Mourinho happy and see attractive football being played at the Bridge, the Russian is ready to agree to that deal.
Torres has been something of a disappointment since a British record £50m transfer from Liverpool in January 2011, playing 161 matches in all competitions and scoring 43 goals.
