How the Blues rated at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage once more as Atletico Madrid beat them 1-3 at Stamford Bridge in the second-leg.
Fernando Torres put the hosts ahead, but goals from Adrian Lopez, Diego Costa and Arda Turan turned things around in west London and Jose Mourinho could end his first season back in England with no trophies.
Here’s how the Blues rated in the English capital.
Mark Schwarzer – 6
Nervy at times early on and was nearly beaten from a Koke cross/come shot in the first-half, although settled into things and made a sharp save to deny Adrian.
Branislav Ivanovic – 5
Worked well in tandem with Cesar Azpilcueta early on to suppress Turan, but as things wore on Atletico gained more confidence and the Serbian looked a little lost.
Ashley Cole – 5
Was defensively strong and worked the left flank early on, but was at fault for Adrian’s goal to put the Spaniards back in it and things just got worse from thereon in for the England international.
Gary Cahill – 6
Slipped twice and clumsily brought down Costa in the first-half, but like Schwarzer settled into things and looked more assured as the game went on.
John Terry – 6
Solid defending upon the captain’s return although it was clear he was struggling slightly with his ankle injury, but was extremely unlucky not to score with a header which was brilliantly saved by Thibaut Courtois.
