Nemanja Matic – 8/10
Nemanja Matic has only been at Chelsea a short while, but is already Chelsea’s most important central midfielder.
The Serbian breaks up play brilliantly, is a huge aerial threat with great strength on the ground, and distributes the ball well.
Frank Lampard – 6/10
A quiet game by Frank Lampard’s incredibly high standards, who ought to be afforded additional room to run forward with Matic in the side.
Willian – 7/10
There are few better players in the Premier League at carrying the ball up the pitch than Willian, and the Brazilian was vital in Eden Hazard’s second goal, dribbling forward at pace to help the Blues score a lightning counterattack.
Willian’s work rate and athleticism coupled with his technique makes him one of the most important players in this Chelsea side.
Oscar – 7/10
Oscar didn’t have his brightest game for Chelsea, but the Brazilian was assured in possession, and kept the ball moving nicely.
Eden Hazard – 9/10
Eden Hazard certainly seems to be rising to the challenge set by Jose Mourinho of challenging the usual pretenders for the FIFA Ballon d’Or, and the Belgian flyer yet again showcased his remarkable talent with a hat-trick here.
Hazard made the difference against a resolute Newcastle United defence, and his clinical finishing was instrumental in dismantling the Magpies.
