John Terry struck in the first five minutes and it looked like the Chelsea post-Premier League title party was set to continue.
However, in an ambitious first half, Liverpool struck back just before the break through their own skipper Steven Gerrard.
But the Blues locked the match down in the second half, much to the annoyance of the Merseysides who couldn’t break down what has been the bedrock of Chelsea’s title win; an almost impervious defence.
Here’s how we rated the Chelsea side today:
GK: Thibaut Courtois – 7
His indomitable best; snatching crosses out of the air, dominating his box and generally frustrating Rickie Lambert that the Liverpool man took to a cynical foul of the Belgian in the second half that got him booked.
RB: Branislav Ivanovic – 6
Pointlessly gave away the free-kick that led to Liverpool’s equaliser when there was no immediate danger and plenty of teammates covering.
