GK: Asmir Begovic – 8/10
The game would have been over at half time had it not been for several excellent saves from the Bosnian, who showed that he is more than capable of stepping into Thibaut Courtois’ shoes when required.
RB: Branislav Ivanovic – 4/10
Struggled when Raheem Sterling went on a couple of bursts down the City left, and was outmuscled for Kompany’s header. Suffered the worst of all the Chelsea defenders, and that is saying something.
DC: John Terry – 5/10
Substituted by Jose Mourinho for the first time in a Premier League game, Chelsea’s captain could not organise his defence as they came under the cosh from the hosts for much of the first half.
DC: Gary Cahill – 5/10
The England international struggled to cope with the trickery and speed of Aguero, who danced around Cahill for his goal and broke free of him several more times only for Begovic to come to the rescue.
LB: Cesar Azpilicueta – 6/10
Navas had his moments down the Chelsea left, but Azpilicueta stood up strongly in their 50-50 duels and generally coped well, particularly considering that he had limited defensive support from Hazard.
