Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge against top four hopefuls Southampton this afternoon. Diego Costa scored the opener, ending a seven game goal drought, before Dusan Tadic slotted home a penalty to level things up in an exciting first half. The Blues huffed and puffed in the second half, but couldn’t find a way through.

Here’s how the Blues players rated:
Thibaut Courtois – 7
Desperately unlucky not to save Tadic’s equalising penalty and generally played well, commanding his box in a few goalmouth scrambles.
Branislav Ivanovic – 6
Provided the assist for Chelsea’s opener with a brilliant cross and was unlucky not to have a first half penalty. Took a shocking dive in the second half and didn’t really contribute otherwise
John Terry – 6
Had a shocking miss in the last minutes at the end of the second half which would have won the game for Chelsea. Coped reasonably with Southampton’s attack but no better.
Gary Cahill – 6
The ball was pinged around the Chelsea box enough to test him and he stood up to the examination. Could have done more to make the game more comfortable though.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 6
Did enough, but no more than that. Got forward as he likes to, but didn’t contribute defensively as he could have done.
