A poor day all round for the holding midfielder. Gave away a penalty for a rash challenge on Mane in the box and seemed overwhelmed with Southampton when they poured forward following that.
Cesc Fabregas – 7
Passed the ball well and did the job he has been doing so well for the Blues all season. When they need to calm the game down, he is the man they can turn to.
Willian – 7 (Cuadrado 83′)
Had a reasonable day where his pace worried Southampton’s backline, though he couldn’t get shots off as he’d have liked due to fast defensive closing down.
