Chelsea star Juan Mata speaks of love of Spanish capital upon meeting up with national side.
Chelsea attacking midfielder Juan Mata says Madrid is one of his favourite cities in the world.
The Spain international is part of his country’s squad bidding to reach the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil next summer.
Given that La Roja are top of Group I with a three point lead over France with one match remaining, Mata can be quite confident that there will be Spanish representation next year.
Writing in his blog for Spanish publication Grada 360, Mata spoke of his joy meeting up with the national team camp, and his love of the city of Madrid.
“In this kind of training camps we also have some spare time and I was able to enjoy the company of my friends.
“This is one of the things you really miss when you live in a different country, and whenever I can I always try to meet them and remember the old times.
“We have a good laugh and we enjoy the nice weather and the streets of Madrid…
“I like Madrid very much. This week my recommendations are about several areas from this city, such as Pintor Rosales or Fuencarral. These are nice places to eat, stroll around, enjoy the sun in their terraces…
“There are many more areas, but they are just too many for only one post 😉 . So, as I said, Madrid is a city I really like and a place where I always meet my best friends.”
