Portuguese has already drawn up a short list of possible new recruits.
Incoming Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho will turn to powerful Zenit St Petersburg front man Hulk this summer if he fails to land first-choice striker Radamel Falcao from Atletico de Madrid, says the Daily Mirror.
The self-styled ‘Special One’ is expected to be confirmed as the new Blues head coach on June 2 after ending his three-year stay in the Spanish capital on Monday, when he and the Spanish giants mutually agreed to go their separate ways.
And now the Portuguese is all set to embark on a second spell at Stamford Bridge, six years after he was sacked by the west London club’s billionaire Russia owner Roman Abramovich.
Mourinho has asked the Chelsea owner to fund a big-money spending spree when the transfer window reopens at the start of next month, with a new forward understood to be top of his wish list.
Falcao is Mourinho’s preferred choice but the 27-year-old is reportedly nearing a move to AS Monaco. If a deal for the red-hot Colombia international falls through, then Mourinho will instead turn his attentions towards Brazil front man Hulk, who has scored 11 goals in 28 matches for the Russian giants to date this season.
