Chelsea are gearing up for a double move for Luka Modric and Raphael Varane.
Chelsea may have succeeded in acquiring Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, but manager Jose Mourinho seems to be in no mood to plug his summer spending.
Reports in the Daily Star have revealed that the Portuguese may try landing the duo of Luka Modric and Raphael Varane from his former club Real Madrid in the near future.
Additional reports also state that Los Blancos are preparing a £27m bid for Blues midfielder Ramires and Mourinho may consider utilising him as makeweight in the deal for the duo he seeks.
The Blues are in need of defensive reinforcements this summer, after bidding adieu to Brazilian David Luiz, however, it is unclear where Mourinho will consider playing Modric, especially as his midfield is already overflowing with talent.
Also, it is highly unlikely that Madrid will consider parting ways with either of the aforementioned players, with both of them believed to be an integral part of manager Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
