The Blues are keen on signing Paulinho.
Despite having had a relatively average first season in England, Chelsea want to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Brazil international briefly became Spurs’ most expensive ever signing in 2013, when he joined them from Corinthians for £17m.
Subsequent £26m and £30m transfer for Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela respectively eclipsed that shortly afterwards, but of that trio the Brazilian has been the best.
Paulinho started well at White Hart Lane, but has found opportunities limited since Tim Sherwood took over as manager from Andre Villas-Boas.
Therefore the 25-year-old could well be open to switching north London for west and would be among a number of national teammates if he did.
The Blues already have Brazilian stars David Luiz, Oscar, Ramires and Willian on their books and the Tottenham ace would have support in order to help settle at Stamford Bridge.
AC Milan and Real Madrid are also thought to be interested in Paulinho, but the west Londoners lead the way currently as they look to strengthen in the middle of the park.
Veteran Frank Lampard could well leave the club when his contract expires in the summer, whilst fellow midfielder John Obi Mikel has also been strongly linked with a move away from the Bridge.
Paulinho is a hardworking player that would fit well into Jose Mourinho’s style and despite an average time with Spurs, has shown his credentials whilst earning 24 caps for Brazil.
