Blues are keen to find a reserve shot stopper for next season.
Chelsea will step up their attempts to sign highly rated Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy this summer as back-up to No 1 Petr Cech, according to reports in the Daily Express.
The England international has been at Carrow Road for the past three seasons now, having originally signed for the Cannaries from Everton for an undisclosed fee in July 2010.
And in the intervening three-year period the 26-year-old has gone on to prove himself to be one of the most accomplished shot stoppers plying their trade in the Premier League, with Ruddy’s five clean sheets in his 10 top-flight fixtures last season going a long way towards preventing Chris Hughton’s strugglers from being relegated to the Championship.
As a result, the west London club are now understood to be keen to bring Ruddy to Stamford Bridge to be a reserve for their Czech Republic international No 1, although the Blues will first need to meet Norwich’s £10 million asking price for their player for the deal to go through.
