Lightning fast and a composed finisher, striker Feruz arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2011, with the Scottish youth international joining the Blues’ academy as one of their brightest prospects for the future.
A number of young Chelsea players have gone out on loan to Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie in recent years, but it appears that Feruz is likely to be staying in England, perhaps so staff at Chelsea can keep a closer eye on his progress.
Feruz’s move was controversial because Chelsea were able to get away with paying just £300,000 in compensation for the striker, a fee which may turn out to be one of the bargains of the century if he is able to fulfil his massive potential with the club.
There will be concerns that, if his development is not properly monitored, Feruz could go the same way as previous Chelsea talents such as Josh McEachran who have stalled once graduating from the club’s academy due to a lack of first team football and unsuccessful loan moves.
