Chelsea planning summer move for £43m La Liga hotshot
With Jose Mourinho set to extend his own stay in west London by a further two years, the club can now turn their attentions to bringing in more new faces on the playing side.
And chairman Roman Abramovich will back his manager in the transfer market by funding moves for La Liga stars Pedro, of Barcelona, and Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao.
Coentrao’s Madrid teammate Raphael Varane had originally been a top target of Mourinho’s, but the Spaniards are reluctant to let him go and the Blues are likely to give veteran skipper John Terry one more year after his fine form in their hunt for the title.
However, Chelsea are still in need of a new left-back as Felipe Luis has failed to make an impact in England since arriving last summer.
Coentrao would be an ideal signing for Chelsea, as he is able to play in a number of positions including left-back, left-wing and defensive midfield.
