Blues want Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno.
Chelsea want to sign Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno as a replacement for Ashley Cole, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Blues are ready to bid £20m-plus for the Spaniard, as boss Jose Mourinho searches for a replacement for the England international, who turns 33 next month.
Moreno, 21, is also wanted by Manchester United and Real Madrid, and is still eligible to play in this season’s Champions League – making a January bidding war a possibility.
Cole was dropped for the second straight game in favour of Cesar Azpilicueta in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with West Brom on Saturday and the former Arsenal star is likely to be slowly phased out by Mourinho.
Asked why Cole did not play, the Portuguese replied: “Because Azpilicueta is playing very well. Let’s see what happens next week. He made zero mistakes.”
Moreno has a £25m buy-out clause but Real Madrid are keen on the player to fill their problem position at left-back.
United, meanwhile, have one eye on the Sevilla star but boss David Moyes would prefer to raid former club Everton for Leighton Baines.
