Man City have pulled the rug out from under Chelsea in the race for Isco. Can the Blues match Man City’s offer in time to make a deal?
The race for Real Madrid star defender Isco has heated up and it looks like a bitter enemy of Chelsea have pulled ahead in the final stretch.
According to the Metro, Manchester City are now considered the favorites to land the 23-year-old attacking midfielder – much to the chagrin of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. The Metro reported that the Stamford Bridge boss is believed to be very interested in the La Liga star, who was named the La Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2012. But Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini has a history with Isco, having coached him as manager of Malaga prior to his move to the Premier League.
Isco is reportedly seeking first-team action after spending the better part of his first two years with Real Madrid behind James Rodriguez. He has 12 goals in 66 appearances for the La Liga giants.
Notably, Isco was awarded the coveted Golden Boy award in 2012, an award shared by such football megastars as Wayne Rooney, Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba, Raheem Sterling, and a little Barcelona forward by the name of Lionel Messi.
