Mourinho faces FA ban after outburst at referee following Tottenham Hotspur defeat
There is likely to be sanctions against the 51-year-old after his comments about match official Phil Dowd following his side’s 5-3 defeat to Spurs on Thursday.
Mourinho believed that his team were denied a clear penalty when Jan Vertonghen appeared to handle the ball in the box and the Portuguese coach also questioned Dowd’s fitness.
“With the result 1-0, one clear action could make it 2-0. Normally, at 2-0, the result would be completely different. It was clear, like the one against Southampton. They’re the ones that are difficult to accept. But managers and players we win and lose. And Mr Dowd didn’t lose,” the former Real Madrid head coach was quoted by the Times.
